Ten years old and it's better than Dr. Belasco could do." This shows that Aaron is ten years old, so he is not very big yet, still a child growing. 2. The second technique that he uses is what Aaron does to show how he is like. An example of Aaron's character is shown when he sees the hurt pigeon and cares for it. That shows that Aaron is kind. 3. The third technique that he uses is using what people say to Aaron to describe what kind of person he is. An example is when his grandmother tells Aaron about her youth and how she had to live in hard times. This shows that Aaron likes to learn about family and the past.

Can a person "make up" for terrible things that have happened to someone else?
Yes, a person can "make-up" for a terrible thing that has happened in the past. Over time people can forget something terrible. Someone can be changed over time. Something can be made up over time because people need time to grieve or try to forget, but that time has to end somewhere. It can be reconsidered, but it can not easily happen again in Aaron's case. In Aaron's case, his grandmother's village was attacked by Cossacks, and these Cossacks killed everyone, burned most houses, and killed her own goat. This goat was special to her. So, when Aaron found the pigeon and decided to give it to her, it seemed as if he could make up for her past. Even though she did not receive the bird because it flew away, she had then forgotten her past. Aaron had "made-up" for her past. One simple action to make up for one terrible action. Very good answer!
